TAG Girls Show Out in Computer Science Competition

With the discussion about diversity in technology sparked by Google’s recent release of demographic data, we here at TAG would like to share what we are doing to help close those gaps. Check out some of our stereotype-shattering future programmers and world-changers who recently represented TAG at the Digital Divas All-Girls Programming Competition on May 17, 2014.

TAG Digital Divas Teams

All of our young ladies showed up and showed out, with every team placing in the tournament. Of the six TAG teams that competed, five teams competed in the ‘Advanced’ category and one team competed in the ‘Never Contested Before’ category. The results were as follows for TAG teams:

Advanced

  • 2nd – Mica Kohl, Flannery Currin, Gwen Edgar
  • 3rd – Miranda McClellan, Rebecca Gonzalez, Mariah Neilsen
  • 4th – Ana Mendez, Mera Tegene, Sindhu Reddy
  • 5th tie – Ty Farris, Gabriella Chan, Olivia Hayden
  • 5th tie – Soleil Kohl, Taylor Holloway

Never Contested Before

  • 4th – Milagros Bria-Massaro, Ileana Valdez, Ashley Mai

Congratulations to all of our young ladies, their coach Mr. Glen Martin, and Plano Senior High School for putting on such a great event!
